During this year's Spring Festival travel rush, the cross-regional flow of people in the whole society is expected to reach 9 billion, and people are rushing to reunite journeys in "mobile China". Railways, civil aviation and other departments have increased capacity guarantees to ensure convenient travel during the Spring Festival travel rush.
The railway department will implement the Spring Festival train operation map from 0:00 on January 14, further increasing the supply of passenger capacity, add temporary passenger trains on popular routes and sections with concentrated passenger flow, and arrange for the opening of night high-speed rail. On the first day of the Spring Festival travel rush, the national railway is expected to send 10.3 million passengers.
Gai Weidong, deputy director of the passenger workshop of Changchun Station, said: "The passenger flow in the 2025 Spring Festival travel rush will increase significantly compared with the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush. It is expected that the flow of migrant work, visiting relatives and tourism will dominate before the festival."
In terms of civil aviation, 18,354 flights are expected to be guaranteed on January 14 and 2.04 million passengers are transported. According to passenger ticket booking data, the top 10 airports with throughput on January 14 are expected to have a cumulative passenger throughput of 1.469 million.
Quan Xiaoyi, vice president of Sanya Phoenix International Airport Co., Ltd., said that wide-body passenger aircraft will be added to routes to key passenger sources such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu. There will be 16 wide-body machine seats, an increase of 33% over 2024.
