CCTV News: On January 6, the reporter learned from the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources that my country has made a major breakthrough in mineral exploration in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the newly discovered copper ore resources amounted to more than 20 million tons.
According to reports, four copper mine resource bases of tens of millions of tons have been formed in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, including Jade Dragon, Duolong, Giant Dragon-Jiama and Xiongcun-Juno. The predicted resource potential is 150 million tons. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is expected to become a world-class copper resource base.
Tang Juxing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, introduced that copper, as a key metal, is particularly important in the development and utilization of green energy. Industries such as solar energy, onshore wind energy, offshore wind energy, and new energy vehicles require a large amount of copper. The exploration and storage increase of these copper ores can ensure the security of the national copper industry chain and supply chain.
In addition, the deep copper mine in Duobaoshan, Heilongjiang also added 3.65 million tons of copper resources. This round of copper mine exploration results will significantly improve my country's copper resource guarantee capabilities.
