National Bureau of Statistics of China: Consumer prices rose 1.0% year-on-year in June

CCTV News: According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in June 2026, the national consumer price increased by 1.0% year-on-year.Among them, urban prices increased by 1.0% and rural areas increased by 0.8%; food prices fell by 1.6%, non-food prices increased by 1.5%; consumer goods prices increased by 1.1%, and service prices increased by 0.8%.On average from January to June, the national consumer price increased by 1.0% compared with the same period last year.

In June, the national consumer price dropped by 0.3% month-on-month.Among them, urban prices dropped by 0.4% and rural prices dropped by 0.3%; food prices dropped by 0.4% and non-food prices dropped by 0.3%; consumer goods prices dropped by 0.6% and service prices remained unchanged.

1. Year-on-year changes in prices of various goods and services

In June, the prices of food, tobacco, alcohol and catering outside the home fell by 0.8% year-on-year, affecting the CPI (Consumer Price Index) to fall by about 0.24 percentage points.Among food, the price of livestock and meat fell by 7.3%, affecting the CPI to fall by about 0.30 percentage points, of which pork prices fell by 15.9%; milk prices fell by 1.7%, affecting the CPI to fall by about 0.02 percentage points; fresh fruit prices fell by 0.7%, affecting the CPI to fall by about 0.01 percentage points; egg prices rose by 16.0%, affecting the CPI to rise by about 0.08 percentage points.

The prices of the other seven major categories increased six times and fell one year on year.Among them, the prices of other supplies and services, transportation and communications, and medical care increased by 6.6%, 4.1%, and 2.3% respectively; the prices of clothing, education, culture, and entertainment all increased by 1.4%; the prices of daily necessities and services increased by 1.3%; and the price of housing decreased by 0.3%.

2. Month-on-month changes in the prices of various goods and services

In June, the prices of food, tobacco, alcohol and catering outside the home fell by 0.3% month-on-month, affecting the CPI to fall by about 0.08 percentage points.Among food, the price of fresh fruits fell by 2.0%, affecting the CPI to fall by about 0.04 percentage points; the price of fresh vegetables fell by 1.0%, affecting the CPI to fall by about 0.02 percentage points; the price of livestock and meat fell by 0.5%, affecting the CPI to fall by about 0.02 percentage points, of which the price of pork fell by 0.8%; the price of eggs rose by 5.8%, affecting the CPI to rise by about 0.03 percentage points.

The prices of the other seven categories increased month-on-month, with one increase, two levels and four decreases.Among them, the prices of medical care increased by 0.2%; the prices of housing, education, culture and entertainment were all the same; the prices of other supplies and services, transportation and communications dropped by 2.7% and 1.3% respectively, and the prices of daily necessities and services, and clothing dropped by 0.2% and 0.1% respectively.
