In Fuling Village, Gangbei District, Guigang City, villager Huang Shuqian originally planned to plant 9 acres of rice, but it has not been planted due to drought. Fuling Village is located at the end of the local Dakai Reservoir irrigation area channel. In the past few days, the water from the reservoir has finally been delivered to the village.
Huang Shuqian, a villager in Fuling Village, Gangcheng Street, Gangbei District, Guigang City, Guangxi Province, said: "I originally planned to farm, but now I have changed to grow taro. It takes about four hours to irrigate water in a field like this."
It is understood that due to the relatively concentrated water supply for spring plowing in the middle and upper reaches of the irrigation area, the water supply at the end of some irrigation areas is insufficient. At present, the local water conservancy department is strengthening water supply scheduling. Electric irrigation stations in most towns and villages in the city have been started to pump water for irrigation.
Yang Huazhuang, deputy director of the Dakai Reservoir Management Center of Guigang City, Guangxi, said: "More than 1.4 million cubic meters of water are supplied to the irrigation area every day, and a total of more than 46 million cubic meters of water are supplied to the irrigation area. At present, the effective water storage capacity of the reservoir is still more than 48 million cubic meters, which can basically ensure the water demand for spring irrigation agricultural production in the irrigation area."
