5G enters the "forbidden zone of life" Kokoxili Lake connects 5G signal
2025-05-15 source:CCTV News

On April 28, in the Kusai Lake area of the Kekexili National Nature Reserve, with the completion of the last equipment debugging, marking the official opening of the Kusai Lake 5G base station. This is also the second 5G base station built in the Kekexili Reserve after the Zhuonai Lake Protection Station realizes 5G communication in 2023.

Kusai Lake Base Station is located in the hinterland of Kokoxili, with an altitude of more than 4600 meters, with an annual average temperature below -10℃, and the air oxygen content is less than 40% of the plain. Faced with problems such as high-altitude oxygen deficiency and permafrost construction, the project construction team completed 5G base stations in unmanned areas in two months, which is also another major breakthrough in my country's information construction in the field of high-altitude ecological protection zones.

After the Kusaihu 5G base station is put into operation, it will completely solve the long-standing communication blind spot problem in the region, and provide modern communication guarantees for ecological protection, scientific research monitoring, emergency rescue and other work. It provides stable network support for the future deployment of infrared cameras and drone patrols in the area. Patrol team members can see the Tibetan antelope flocks several kilometers away through the monitoring screen, and realize real-time return of patrol trajectory, which improves patrol efficiency by 60%; the response time of poaching warnings has been shortened to 15 minutes.

Kokexili is located in the heart of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is the largest, highest altitude and most mysterious nature reserve in China. The climate here is harsh and the conditions are harsh, making it difficult for humans to survive. It is called the "forbidden zone of life."
