Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China firmly opposes Iwasaki Shigeru's appointment as the so-called "Governmental Affairs Advisor" of the Taiwan authorities

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun hosted a regular press conference on the 15th. A reporter asked about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ decision to take countermeasures against Shigeru Iwasaki.

Guo Jiakun: The Taiwan issue is the core of China’s core interests and an insurmountable red line. China firmly opposes the appointment of Shigeru Iwasaki, the former chief of staff of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, as the so-called "political adviser" of the Taiwan authorities. China has made stern representations to Japan on many occasions and has taken countermeasures against Shigeru Iwasaki. Instead of repenting, Shigeru Iwasaki intensified his efforts, colluded with the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, repeatedly colluded with provocations, seriously violated the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, seriously interfered in China's internal affairs, and seriously damaged China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. In response to the above-mentioned heinous behavior of Shigeru Iwasaki, in accordance with the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People's Republic of China, China issued a Ministry of Foreign Affairs order announcing countermeasures against him and punishing him for colluding and provoking "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
