People's Daily Online (Reporter Du Yanfei) A report recently released by the Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute shows that based on the comprehensive forecast of the steel consumption coefficient method and the downstream industry consumption method, my country's steel consumption in 2025 will be approximately 808 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.4%.

From a comprehensive analysis, in 2025, steel consumption in the automobile, machinery, energy, shipbuilding and other industries will show a growth trend; steel consumption in the construction, container, steel and wood furniture and other industries will decline.

The report points out that in 2025, the steel consumption in the automotive industry is expected to be 63.9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%; the machinery industry’s steel consumption is approximately 180 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%; the energy industry’s steel consumption Steel consumption in the shipbuilding industry was approximately 51.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%; steel consumption in the shipbuilding industry was approximately 16.5 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%; steel consumption in the bicycle and motorcycle industry was approximately 5.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%.

"Currently, my country's steel industry has entered the stage of volume reduction development and stock optimization. The problem of oversupply is prominent and market competition is fierce." Xiao Bangguo, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Metallurgical Industry Planning Institute, said that the steel industry should seize the opportunity to adjust the market demand structure and have a correct understanding of product structure optimization. Its core is to promote high-quality development, with the goal of "demand and benefit" and avoid blind pursuit of high-end. The next step is to deepen professional development, promote scale on the basis of specialization, rely on scale to achieve low costs, and enhance product value creativity and market competitiveness through brand building.

As the extended connotation of the industrial chain continues to enrich, Cho Bangguo suggested that steel companies promote the construction of an ecosystem with collaboration as the core and use it as a focus to achieve intelligent, green, and integrated development. The digital and intelligent transformation of steel enterprises must be based on their own development actualities. They cannot blindly pursue high-end or completeness. They should diagnose and analyze existing problems through "business digitalization" and allow the system to solve problems independently and in a targeted manner through "digital businessization", so as to produce quantifiable benefits with the most economical investment.
