On January 9, 2026, local time, the Chinese Embassy in Turkey issued a reminder about Turkey’s visa exemption for Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports.

Effective January 2, 2026, Türkiye will implement a visa-free policy for Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports for the purpose of tourism and transit. Chinese tourists can stay in Türkiye for no more than 90 days in any 180-day period. In order to ensure that Chinese tourists can come to Turkey smoothly, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Turkey would like to remind you as follows:

1. Entry document requirements: Make sure your passport is valid for no less than 6 months and has a blank visa page. Prepare paper round-trip air tickets, hotel orders, itineraries, physical credit cards (or travel fund certificates), etc. in advance to prepare for random inspections upon entry.

2. Scope of visa exemption: The visa exemption policy only applies to tourism and transit purposes. If you come to Turkey to work, study, etc., you must apply for the corresponding type of visa from the Turkish authorities in advance.

3. Penalty for overstaying: According to relevant Turkish laws and regulations, overstaying will be fined and may be prohibited from entering Turkey within a certain period of time.

4. Other precautions: Prepare a copy of the passport information page in advance and take a photo to keep it in case the passport is lost and can be used to replace the document. During your stay in Turkey, please abide by local laws, regulations and customs. In case of emergencies, please contact relevant departments in time according to actual needs.
