CCTV news: The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce responded to reporters’ questions on the price commitment agreement reached between China and South Korea in the anti-dumping case of hot-rolled coils.

A reporter asked: Recently, in the final ruling of South Korea’s anti-dumping case against China’s hot-rolled coils, China and South Korea reached a price commitment agreement. What is the spokesperson’s comment on this?

Answer: On February 23, 2026, South Korea announced that it had reached an agreement with China on a price commitment plan during the final ruling on the anti-dumping case against China’s hot-rolled coils. The Chinese and Korean industries welcome this and believe that replacing anti-dumping duties with price commitments is in the interests of the two countries' industries and will help enhance the stability and predictability of China-South Korea steel trade.

China and South Korea have close economic ties, their industrial and supply chains are deeply embedded in each other, and their cooperation is mutually beneficial. The "soft landing" of this case reflects the mutual respect, mutual understanding and consideration of each other's concerns between China and South Korea, and sends a positive signal for consolidating and deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Under the current international situation, China and South Korea have properly resolved the hot-rolled plate case under the framework of WTO rules, demonstrating to the world the firm stance of both parties in supporting multilateralism and safeguarding free and fair trade, setting another example of properly resolving differences through dialogue and consultation, and injecting positive energy into stable international economic and trade cooperation.
