Japan deploys offensive weapons under the guise of "defensive counterattack". Ministry of Foreign Affairs: This trend is very dangerous
2026-04-01 source:CCTV News

On April 1, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a regular press conference.

Mao Ning said that Japan's deployment of offensive weapons under the guise of "defensive counterattack" goes far beyond the scope of self-defense and "exclusive defense". It seriously violates the provisions of the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender and other documents with the effect of international law. It also seriously violates the Japanese Constitution and existing domestic norms. This once again reflects that Japan's right-wing forces are promoting the shift of Japan's security policy in an offensive and expansionary direction.

Japan’s “new type of militarism” is threatening regional peace and stability, and the international community should be highly vigilant against this.

Mao Ning said, I have also noticed that many Japanese groups and people have clearly expressed their opposition. Recently, Japanese Self-Defense Force officials illegally broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan armed with knives. Japan does not reflect on the self-defense force's lack of control, but is busy inciting "external threats" and accelerating its military expansion. This trend is very dangerous.

We solemnly urge Japan to deeply reflect on its history of militaristic aggression, abide by its commitments in the field of military security and act with caution.
