China's hydrogen energy industry accelerates to open up trillions of new space

CCTV News (News Broadcast): The "15th Five-Year Plan" outline proposes to promote hydrogen energy, nuclear fusion energy, etc. to become new economic growth points. Since this year, my country's hydrogen energy industry is accelerating from technology demonstration and exploration to a new stage of large-scale and commercial development.

Hydrogen can be produced directly from seawater without desalination. In the Bohai Bay, my country's first 100-kilowatt factory-scale seawater direct hydrogen production project has the conditions to move from laboratory to large-scale production. The "hydrogen" corridor is densely woven and expanded. In the Chengdu-Chongqing region, two more hydrogen transmission lines were connected not long ago. Currently, two intercity lines and one direct trunk line have been built. A total of more than 2,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have been promoted and 41 hydrogenation stations have been built.

This year's "Government Work Report" proposed to cultivate new growth points such as hydrogen energy and green fuels. Currently, more than 20 provinces across the country have made hydrogen energy a key development direction in their local “15th Five-Year Plan”. In the first two months of this year, there were 82 hydrogen energy registered projects across the country, with a total investment of approximately 47.436 billion yuan. The projects covered all aspects of green hydrogen preparation, storage and transportation equipment, etc. Up to now, my country has built 574 hydrogenation stations with a hydrogenation capacity of over 360 tons/day, ranking first in the world. By 2030, the number of fuel cell vehicles nationwide will double compared with 2025, and strive to reach 100,000 vehicles. Not only in the transportation field, since this year, hydrogen energy application scenarios are also expanding to industry, people's livelihood and other fields. In Zhanjiang, Guangdong, my country's first million-ton near-zero carbon steel production line has achieved stable operation, replacing traditional coke with hydrogen for the first time; in Huangshi, Hubei, hydrogen energy shared bicycles have made hydrogen energy accessible to ordinary people. With a single hydrogenation, the cruising range can reach 90 kilometers.
