The Chinese Embassy in Japan reminds Chinese citizens in Japan to pay attention to personal safety
2026-04-17 source:cctv.com

CCTV News: According to the WeChat public account of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, in recent years, the public security environment in Japan has continued to deteriorate. According to statistics from the Japanese National Police Agency, from 2021 to 2025, criminal cases suspected of violating criminal laws in Japan have increased year by year, from 568,000 to 774,000. The number of serious crimes such as murder, robbery, arson, rape, abduction, and obscenity increased from 8,821 to 15,086, an increase of approximately 71%.

Recently, active-duty members of the Japanese Self-Defense Force climbed over the wall with knives and broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan. Right-wingers openly harassed Chinese citizens watching the marathon. Chinese students were attacked by "bumpers" on the streets of Tokyo, and Hong Kong tourists were beaten in a restaurant in Hokkaido. The relevant cases reflect the increasingly rampant activities of right-wing forces in Japan, the significant increase in discriminatory cases against Chinese citizens, and the rising safety risks for Chinese citizens in Japan.

The Chinese Embassy in Japan solemnly reminds Chinese citizens in Japan to effectively improve their safety awareness, strengthen self-protection, try to go out in groups, and avoid going to areas with poor public security and concentrated crowds. If you encounter nuisance and provocation from right-wing elements, "human gangsters", etc., please give priority to ensuring your own safety, stay calm, avoid entanglement, pay attention to preserving evidence, call the police in a timely manner, and contact the embassy or consulate in Japan for assistance.
