Starting from May 1, 2026, my country will fully implement zero-tariff measures with 53 African countries that have diplomatic relations with them.
At 0:00 on the 1st, Shenzhen Bay Port welcomed the country’s first imported goods after the measures came into effect. 24 tons of apples originating from South Africa will be distributed to major supermarkets and fruit and vegetable wholesale markets across the country after rapid supervision and inspection by Shenzhen Customs. The tariff on imported South African apples has been reduced from 10% to 0%, and the product cost advantage has been significantly improved.
The zero tariff implemented this time is another major measure after my country implemented zero tariff on all least developed countries that have established diplomatic relations with China on December 1, 2024, including the 33 African least developed countries. It will definitely inject strong impetus into China-Africa trade and investment cooperation and African development.
