On July 10, the National Immigration Administration held a press conference to release main data on immigration management in the first half of 2026.
In the first half of the year, the national immigration management agencies inspected a total of 369 million people entering and exiting the country, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%, reaching a record high; of which 176 million were mainland residents, 147 million were residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 45.906 million foreigners were inspected, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%, 8.1%, and 20.6% respectively.
The number of foreigners entering the country reached 22.914 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.4%, showing a rapid growth trend; among them, 17.815 million foreigners entered the country without visas, accounting for 77.7% of the foreigners entering the country, a year-on-year increase of 30.6%.
The top ten countries for inbound foreign tourists are South Korea, Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, the United States, Japan, Mongolia, and Australia, accounting for 62% of the total number of inbound foreigners.
